The principal focus of the Competition is to provide students with the opportunity to learn and apply practical skills relevant to investment banking. The Competition consists of a First, Second, and Final Round, with cases developed by professionals from top investment banks designed to replicate potential real-world transactions. Participation in NIBC will provide hands-on experience and insight into the daily responsibilities of both junior and senior investment bankers. These responsibilities include analysis of financial data, running scenarios in financial models, evaluating structural alternatives against client parameters, and creating pitch books. Finalists will have the chance to present their advice in a live pitch to a panel of judges comprised of Managing Directors from leading North American investment banks, while competing for a $15,000 prize pool.

About the Case Creation:

The cases are prepared by investment banking professionals from firms including Macquarie Capital, RBC Capital Markets, BMO Capital Markets, Morgan Stanley and Evercore Partners. The cases are designed to give students hands-on insights into the actual work of Analysts, Associates and Vice Presidents including financial modeling, evaluation of financing structures and delivery of client presentations.

Teams are chosen from the First Round to compete in the Final Round, where Finalist Teams deliver a live pitch to Managing Directors for a $15,000 prize pool, in front of an audience of 450 professionals and students.
As an additional resource, we would also like to encourage students to attend the Leaders workshop in a city near them. The initiative is designed to motivate students and help them prepare their resume and interview skills to break into competitive fields such as Investment Banking, Consulting, and Accounting.
